Zoe Saldaña Wants a Woman of Color to Take Over as Gamora in the MCU—Here’s Why!

Zoe Saldaña, who has played Gamora in the MCU, recently spoke about her future with the character. Earlier this year, she mentioned that while Gamora might not be gone for good, her time playing the character has ended.

Zoe has shared her hope that Gamora could return to the MCU, but with a different actress taking on the role.

In a new interview with Variety, Zoe talked more about Gamora’s future. She explained that she sometimes feels she could have done a better job playing Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers movies. She also mentioned feeling the same way about her role as Uhura in Star Trek. Zoe said that while she thinks she did well, she wishes she could have done more.

Zoe has a lot of projects lined up, including two more Avatar sequels, which will keep her busy for a while. She’s also working on season 2 of Lioness and a fourth Star Trek movie that’s been in development for a long time. However, it seems her time in the Marvel universe has come to an end, and she’s okay with that.

Zoe is ready to pass the role of Gamora to another actress, and she hopes that a brown actress will take on the part. She believes that giving the role to a woman of color would bring something new and exciting to the character, just like she brought her own unique touch to Uhura in Star Trek with the blessing of Nichelle Nichols, the original actress.
